What size beer keg will fit into a BARFLY Fridge?
There are two standard sizes that fit into a Barfly Beer fridge- either a 20 or 30 litre tall (vertical). Micro breweries make only 30 litre sizes. Big beer companies such as Molson or Labatt's makes a 20 litre tall. When you come see us, we can provide a list of local beer companies that sell the above sizes.
What kind of Gas do I need?
You need CO2 gas. The CO2 cylinder comes in either 5, 10 or 15 pounds, however, we recommend a 5 pound cylinder as we have designed our fridges to be self contained with five or ten pound tank. The first cylinder you purchase or rent for roughly $75. The cost of refilling is ten to fifteen dollars depending on the size of the tank. A five pound tank will usually last over a year! Make sure that all air line connections are good and tight as CO2 can leak very easily.
What type of regulator does the Barfly fridge include?
You can choose 2 types of regulators to mount onto your C02 tank. A pressure regulator controls the amount of gas going into your beer fridge. This is a must have. With this combination, you can keep the C02 tank inside the fridge. This is the regulator that Barfly provides. A volume regulator lets you see how much beer is left in your tank. This is an option. You can have the dual regulator for your CO2 tank, however, with the volume regulator, the C02 tank MUST be kept outside the fridge.
If the tank is easy to pick up then it is time for another!!
How long will my draft beer stay fresh once I have tapped the keg?
Once its tapped, draft beer should be consumed within 3-4 months otherwise it tends to lose its fresh brewery taste and aroma. (Assuming it is kept at approx. 38 degrees and at 6 psi).
Where can I get my CO2 tank filled?
Look in your local phone books yellow pages under the heading "Gas". There should be several gas distributors in your area. Call a few of them up and ask if they fill small tanks with CO2. Also, local fire extinguisher suppliers and welding suppliers will sometimes fill CO2 tanks. Barfly also provides you with the local contacts for Gas suppliers.
Why is my beer coming out all foamy?
Many things can cause foamy beer: Warm spots in the beer line, dirty beer lines, twists or kinks in beer line, too much pressure or warm beer. Be sure and let the keg settle for 2-3 hours before tapping it.
